Brittny and I had met over a sushi date a few months ago to talk about her upcoming wedding and engagement session. Her fiancé, Jon, couldn’t make it since he is currently living up in Northern California. We talked pretty much about everything (even non-wedding related topics) and then Brittny started talking about Jon. “He is pretty laid back about the whole planning process, and he is happy with what we have decided so far, in fact he is happy about everything. He is an easy going, happy guy. You’ll see!!” When I met Jon for the engagement session at Torrey Pines, she was right! It is like he has a permanent smile on his face! (Or maybe that is just the effect Brittny has on him). They really are so cute together. Everything was so natural for them.
I love when clients trust me for engagement shoots. Especially when I say, “Ok, it is probably going to be 90 degrees that day, and it is a mile hike down to the bottom of the trail, BUT IT WILL BE WORTH IT.” Luckily these two are down for whatever, and a challenge! Torrey Pines State Reserve is a stunning park with miles worth of trails on the cliffs that overlook the Pacific Ocean. This natural reserve is a must-see when visiting San Diego. Brittny and Jon have hiked Torrey Pines many times by themselves and also with visiting friends and family.
At the end of their shoot, we traveled back to Brittny’s apartment in downtown San Diego, because her balcony holds a special spot in her heart; it is where Jon got down on one knee and proposed to her! We ended up taking a few more photos on her balcony with a few glasses of wine, (Hey, they ARE getting married in Napa Valley next summer!) Looking forward to their wedding!
