It all started a few years ago when Melanie had to go to Yuma for a work trip assisting with the media for the Yuma Air Show. It was there that she met Phil, who was designated as one of the pilots to conduct potential interviews with. She caught his eye, and he was chasing her shortly after! Soon enough, Phil took Melanie on a weekend trip to Catalina Island. Melanie tells what happened next:
“We were tight on time left together prior to his deployment so it was a somewhat last-minute planned trip, but Phil was adamant about going that particular weekend. He proposed on the balcony of our hotel room looking at the ocean. His initial plan was to hike to the top of one of the mountains the day we arrived there, but I insisted on going to the beach club instead that day, which ruined his initial proposal plan! He then came up with a second idea to walk up to a steeple halfway up the mountain before dinner. But yet again, I ruined his plan because I was hungry and wanted to get to dinner! So instead, we decided to hang out for a little bit on the balcony before dinner, which is when he got down on one knee and popped the question.”
The two wed in San Diego at the Ascension Catholic Church. We then had a moment at the beach for some stunning views and landscapes to take photos with! After a fun and enjoying happy hour with apps and drinks from Snake Oil Cocktail and Brothers Catering, the guests welcome Mr. and Mrs. Smith to their reception at BRICK in Liberty Station. They partied the night away and everyone was so happy to see these two tie the knot. Congrats!
