Ah! I was so honored to be a part of Samantha and Dan’s big day up in Northern California 🙂 They are two of the sweetest people in the world and are so natural with each other. Their day was absolutely perfect! A little more about this duo;
Dan & Sam met their Sophomore year as Aggies at the University of California Davis. Dan was in a fraternity and Sam played on the club softball team. The two met in December at an exchange (a party between the frat and softball team), where the theme required you to dress in costume as something that began with the letter “s”: Dan was a swimmer, Sam was Santa. Sam gave Dan sass for his lack of trying costume. After a few texts, Dan and Sam enjoyed their first date over Burgers & Brew and bowling (where Sam’s competitive side came on a bit strong), dated, spent some time as friends, and a year later found each other again (with a second “first date” at Burgers & Brew). Dan was attracted to Sam’s sense of humor and Sam was drawn to Dan’s big heart. Nearly seven years later, the two have been calling each other by the nickname “bro” ever since.
With Sam nearly impossible to surprise, Dan proposed on a Friday evening in May alongside Ocean Beach outside the Cliff House in San Francisco. The couple lived within a couple miles of the restaurant, but had never made it out there to try. Knowing it was on the couple’s “must-visit” list of places to sample before making the move to Los Angeles for Dan’s entrance into Physician Assistant School, Dan formed a plan. He enlisted the help of now Best Man, Blake, as a freelance photographer. As Dan drove him and Sam to the site carefully mapped out by Dan and Blake using Google Earth weeks in advance, Sam was casually rapping Drake songs excited for the weekend and unaware of the evening ahead. Dan led her down the path behind the restaurant, looking out over a rare sunny view of the west side of the peninsula. As Dan got down on one knee, and made the ask through teary eyes, a shocked and surprised Sam said, “Yes!.” Sam was so in shock that she kept repeatedly asking, “Is this real?!”.
Oh yes it was! Congrats again you two!!! <3
