Rachel and Charles have a pretty cute way of how they met, and then after fell in love. In Rachel’s words:
“We met in Jacksonville Beach FL about two years ago. I had run a half marathon that morning and was out later in the evening to get some food and drinks with my roommate, Meg. We were walking down first street in Jax Beach and I saw two guys riding their beach cruisers the opposite direction. Charles basically hollered at me: ” Hey! Hey girl! Where you going? Can I buy you a drink? ” etc. Since Charles is pretty cute, I acknowledged his cat calls and we started talking . Meg and I ended up getting a couple drinks with them. I gave him my number and we’ve been hanging out pretty much ever since. We both moved out of Jax (Rachel to memphis, Charles to DC) about four months after we met, and were able to keep in touch and kept getting more serious. He ended up moving to Memphis in the spring of 2018 and now we’re together in San Diego!” He proposed to Rachel on the beach in San Diego soon after that, and started planning their wedding in Columbus, Ohio where Rachel grew up.
I always find it so special when the bride or groom gets to get ready in their own childhood home. There I am taking photos of Rachel’s wedding dress, amongst photos of her as a kid in that same house, and sports trophies and Harry Potter memorabilia. Her family dog sat by her side as she got her hair and makeup done, and we did portraits with her bridesmaids in her own backyard. The rest of the day was super sweet, (minus the horizontal rain and wind that came by after the ceremony!). But isn’t rain on your wedding day good luck!? Either way, it didn’t seem to bother either the bride or groom, they had permanent smiles on their faces! The rest of the day was spent laughing and dancing and cheersing to the newlyweds at the Athletic Club of Columbus! Congrats Rachel and Charles!
