I am so thankful for these two wanting to venture out into the desert with me for this session! When I suggested it, they immediately replied “sure! we back country camp all the time!”, so they were no strangers to the strange terrain and endless driving in the middle of no where. We first met up at Nickel Brewery in Julian for a quick beer. It was strange driving from the beaches of San Diego, to the mountains of Julian, and then we were to head down into the desert of Anza Borrego! Our goal was the find The Slot, which is literally just a dirt road with no signage to let you know you are heading the right way. But once we got there, we had the whole place to ourselves! We wandered around in the canyon, which was nice to avoid some of the wind we were getting up top. The sun was starting to go away so we hiked back up to the top for our last bit of sunlight. But then it all just got better. Blue hour came, and the wind was an added bonus. We stuck around for another 40 mins or so, and even used the flood lights on Reed’s truck for some extra shots at the end! Loved this shoot! Can’t wait for the wedding!!!
