Rachel and Cody are getting married! They chose to have an low-key in-home session for their engagement photos and I LOVE. Sometimes I’m weary of in-home sessions because I have never seen the location before and am not sure how it will photograph. But these two have a gorgeous apartment with the rooftop to top alllll rooftops! I came over and we poured wine and chowed down on some pizza from their favorite pizza place in their neighborhood. Then we eventually headed up to the rooftop where we could see directly into the Padres stadium from above (and of course there was a game that day!) and the sun was soooooo glowy! The only thing shining brighter at that moment was the smile on these two’s faces! They are such a silly and giddy duo, we were having such a blast! To end the day, we headed up to La Jolla to hangout and my favorite beach for the sunset. They’re getting married a few blocks from that beach next year and I’m SO EXCITED to just hang with these two again! Congrats to you both!!
I’ve been attending Photo Rehab for the past few years, and it has truly become like a second family and a large tight-knit community. Photo Rehab wanted to switch things up for it’s next workshop, and actually collaborated with Soles4Souls, a charity that donates shoes to schools all over the world! Our trip was in April and we set off to Antigua, Guatemala! Our crew was small but mighty, setting out to deliver 450 pairs of shoes to two different schools and one community over a few days! That is approximately $5,280 worth of shoes that families in Guatemala don’t have to spend on their children this year! To add our little flare to the Soles4Souls effort, Photo Rehab also provided photography! We had a printer on site and took photos of the kids and their families, which we were able to print right there for them. We also provided a good chunk of photos for Soles4Souls’ website to promote future endeavors! This experience was so rewarding. The smiles and giggles from the kids didn’t make it seem like we were doing charity work at all. They were so grateful, giving us hugs after we sized their feet and gave them shoes. They even ran into their classrooms, and came out giggling with thank you cards! The language barrier didn’t even exist in that moment when we communicated with hugs and hand holding and smiles and shared laughs.
Photography. Travel. Giving back. All of things in one week!? It was the best time. Soles4Souls and PhotoRehab had such a great time working together that we are actually linking up AGAIN next spring! The trip will be for 10 days in MOROCCO!! If you or anyone you know is interested in an event like this, please reach out to me and I can send you all the info!! 🙂
Is this a ad for Levi jeans or some high fashion editorial magazine? No. But it should be. These two were so much fun to hang out with and photograph. “Just embrace the wind!” It was fun taking them down to Slot Canyon down in Anza Borrego Desert, a place they hadn’t explored yet before! (I always feel awkward meeting strangers in a parking lot and they say “follow me into the desert!” haha!). I’m excited for their wedding in San Diego next spring! Looking forward to it! Congrats on your engagement, Amanda and Matt!
