Nicole and Gavin’s Old Venice Restaurant Wedding

These two are married! Nicole and Gavin wed at the adorable La Jolla Women’s Club and then moved the party on over to the Old Venice Restaurant, where guests were fed some amazing Italian dishes and danced the night away. But how did this all come about? I’m a huge believer in fate and perfect coincidences, and how Nicole and Gavin met is proof of that.

“We met at Gavin’s work Beaumont’s, a local neighborhood restaurant and Bar in La Jolla. Gavin was setting up the band when I walked in with a friend, our eye’s met instantly and was an immediate attraction at first sight. Little did we know, my friend that I was there with new him, so he took it upon himself to walk up to say ‘hi’ and introduce himself to me. He was working so I didn’t see much of him during our gathering. Since it was my friends Birthday, it was a late night and we just about closed down the bar. She was dating one of the band members who invited us to an after party nearby. Gavin new the group, so when he closed down and locked up the restaurant, he made a call to a buddy and asked if I was there. While there, I found myself being hit on by someone I was not interested in and was trying to find an (out)(exit). In my head, I told myself, “please god, please get me out of this” within seconds, Gavin walks down the hallway and turns down the corner right in front of the room I was sitting down in. I bolted out of the room, jumped in his arms and pretended we were an item so the guy would give up. As we walked off together, I whispered in his ear and said “just go with it” …and the rest is history.”

Soon after, Gavin would propose to Nicole and their favorite beach in San Diego, Windansea. It was only appropriate to do some beach portraits there on their wedding day! We had the whole beach to ourselves and the weather was perfect. Everything was meant to be! Congrats to you both!

Justine and Dave’s Mountains to Desert Engagement Session

He proposed to her after hiking up to the top of a mountain in Joshua Tree and sang her a song on his guitar. He then presented her a beautiful ring with a re-purposed diamond. She obviously said yes! This duo is quite the team. Not only did they start a succesful small batch hot sauce company, but they are each others biggest supporters. So of course Justine let Dave bring his other “baby” along to their engagement shoot, his vintage BMW that he has been fixing up. He wasn’t so sure if she could make it up into the hilly mountains of Lake Cuyamaca, and then down to the Anza Borrego desert, but we pushed her anyways and she made it! (I’m talking about the car here, not Justine). They both love the mountains, as well as the desert, so we wanted to incorporate both into their shoot! I’m SO excited for their backyard wedding next year!

Katrina and Casey’s La Jolla Cove Suites Wedding

These two lovebirds know how to throw a great party! They picked a perfect early fall day with not a cloud in the sky, and a venue with a view. Guests were brought upstairs to the rooftop of the La Jolla Cove Suites overlooking the cove and all the sea life down below. After exchanging I dos, the couple watched the sunset on the beach with a few friendly seals on the beach. Katrina recalls the romantic and surprising night when Casey popped the question; “Casey and I had been talking about going to Santa Barbara for months. We finally found a free weekend that we could go. We headed up to Santa Barbara and spent the day going to wineries and a brewery. At the end of the day we checked into a hotel and started getting ready for our dinner reservations. Right before we were about to leave, Casey asked if I could go get some ice so we could have one last drink before dinner. I left the room for 2 minutes, when I came back Casey had sprinkled rose petals all over our hotel floor, he had candles lit, and then he got down on one knee. I was so overwhelmed I don’t even remember what he said right before he proposed! I ended up getting down on my knees too before I said “yes!” ” And now they are married! Congrats to you both!
